Avatar 2009 A great anti-capitalism, anti-military flick
So Avatar is obvioussly the epitome of anti-capitalism, anti-military and pro-tree hugging movies. You have a giant corporation hell bend on mining ore even at the destruction of a tribal race and a Marine that loves the thought of war mongering before dinner. So if you watch this movie with the idea that it is a direct representation of the current corporation employing millions you will be greatly annoyed.
The only reason I went to see the movie is because I am a sucker for special effects. CGI is amazing and I love to see movies in 3D with amazing effects. As I watched the movie, I have to admit that it was a great story. I am not naive enough to think all corporations are driven by a moral code and not the dollar, and that there haven’t been any war mongering humans in the past?
I chose to watch this movie in a worse case scenario approach. If you have a corrupt entity (government or corporate) with an aggressive military force, you have the potential for a very big problem.
Just watch it to have fun. Believe me, it requires no thinking at all. It is a no brainer movie with a very basic boy meets girl… boy falls in love with girl… boy flies big dragon like thing to save the day kinda movie. Predictable in every way, but with amazing effects.
