Like Sheep to the Slaughter
So I found this amazing video on YouTube.com. It is a great sample of people doing what the rest of the flock does. The amazing thing is that people are such social animals and really end up relying on the group to take care of them. This is natural to a point, people allow people to think for them… We all have our favorite news anchors, commentators, sports announcers… we rely on them for information. We end up trusting them. The complete danger occurs when we become complacent in the information they feed to us.
It is imperative to stop and think for ourselves to ensure that we are not being led in our thinking. I don’t care if you are a socialist, conservative, liberal or a communist. Be one because that is who you are. Don’t let someone lead you into believing that is who you are.
It is amazing, I have friends who think they are liberal but have very few liberal beliefs. I am sure this goes vice versa also, I just seem to have more liberal friends
.
The message here is to take the time to stop and look inside yourself to see what is right and what is wrong. Listen to that inner voice, don’t rely on Sean Hannity, or Keith Olbermann. Do it yourself based on your beliefs and morals.
Liberal Policy: Why Test When You can Assume?
It is all about intent
In the arena of conservative vs liberal thought, there is one concept that stands out with liberals. Nothing matters beyond intention with liberals. It doesn’t matter that government run health care has failed in other countries, or in this country. If they were serious about finding a solid solution to health care, would it not make more sense to do it at a state level with 50 different attempts / ideas / processes? I suppose not.
In the liberal mindset, it is better to write 2000+ pages of legislation that include buy-offs to various senators and such and ram it down America’s throats on the Eve of our country’s most celebrated holiday.
Will it work? Has it been tested? Who cares? Let’s just assume it will and hold on for the ride. Good Luck America.
A Third Party Solution? Tax Tea Party? No, a RepTea Party.
I listen to my fair share of talk radio and hear a lot of people who call into voice their support for a third party. Rasmussen polls shows how voters would likely cast their vote:
- Democrat: 36%
- Tea Party: 23%
- Republicans: 18%
- Undecided: 22%
While the idea of a third party is definitely romantic… it would end up being a romantic tragedy.
What we need are candidates that can run as a subclass of the Republican party. Candidates that are not afraid to stand up for conservative values and politically back conservative candidates in their area regardless of political affiliation.
Take Sarah Palin, despite some of the most brutal political and personal attacks she is still a strong viable candidate at best and at the least a strong leader and motivator for the Rep Tea Party. It comes down to a hostile takeover of the Republican Party. We need to force out all Rhinos and get RepTeas in there.
Just keep it in the Republican Party.
Avatar 2009 A great anti-capitalism, anti-military flick
So Avatar is obvioussly the epitome of anti-capitalism, anti-military and pro-tree hugging movies. You have a giant corporation hell bend on mining ore even at the destruction of a tribal race and a Marine that loves the thought of war mongering before dinner. So if you watch this movie with the idea that it is a direct representation of the current corporation employing millions you will be greatly annoyed.
The only reason I went to see the movie is because I am a sucker for special effects. CGI is amazing and I love to see movies in 3D with amazing effects. As I watched the movie, I have to admit that it was a great story. I am not naive enough to think all corporations are driven by a moral code and not the dollar, and that there haven’t been any war mongering humans in the past?
I chose to watch this movie in a worse case scenario approach. If you have a corrupt entity (government or corporate) with an aggressive military force, you have the potential for a very big problem.
Just watch it to have fun. Believe me, it requires no thinking at all. It is a no brainer movie with a very basic boy meets girl… boy falls in love with girl… boy flies big dragon like thing to save the day kinda movie. Predictable in every way, but with amazing effects.
Keith Oberman on Health Care Reform
Honestly, I am not a Keith Oberman fan. On health care reform we at least agree that the current bill NEEDs to be destroyed. The federal government has no constitutional authority to mandate that you purchase health care. So in effect, if this bill passes and you do not purchase health care, you are a criminal. This in effect is not increasing competition but allowing an industry to potentially set prices to whatever they want because if you do not purchase their product you are committing a federal crime. How much sense does that make?
Better than Government – Heifer Foundation
I heard about the Heifer Foundation on my way to work this morning and found this video again on YouTube when I got to work. I wonder how many evniro-lefties oppose the methane spewing program of the Heifer Foundation? Yes, animals also emit carbon dioxide. Yet another organization bent on the destruction of the planet through the guise of caring and giving.
Seriously though, this is an awesome example of how human beings can make a HUGE difference in the lives of mankind- amazingly enough without the direct involvement of government. You see?? Government does not have to do everything for eveybody. There are THOUSANDS of people out there who are not only capable of giving, but who are also take a leading role. While the Heifer Foundation does promote government solutions (Look at #8), their main goal is getting individual and community involvement (Look at #9).
It is also very nice to see young people, like meekakitty in the video above, using their influence to try and help those who are in need.
And even though Jo Luck, the CEO of the Heifer Foundation apparently donated to Hilary Clinton for the 2008 campaign, I am reaching across the aisle and buying some chickens.
Huckabee on Obama’s abortion stance
Morally many people have issue with abortion. Even if you are pro choice, you have to understand it is a moral dilemma for any sane person and a decision not taken lightly. You also have to understand there is a human life that will most certainly be terminated if the abortion is performed.
It is immoral in the most heinous sense to expect a person who is diabolically opposed to abortion to fund it. Abortion being a state issues would at the minimum allow people to choose a pro life or pro choice state. Abortion at all levels needs to be taken OUT of the federal government’s hands.
National Defense Spending Man on the Street
Considering that the federal government’s primary job is to protect, I would love to see at least 80% spending on National Defense. Not 80% of our current revenue, I would like to see the United States spend a lot less overall but given that they are tasked by the constitution specifically to defend the nation, it only comes to reason that that should be the primary baby of the federal government.
All the social programs that are run or sponsored by the federal government need to be moved to a state level or local level. The Federal Government was not designed to be all things to all people. Its time for people to stop expecting the government to support them. It is time for the people to learn to support themselves.
Politicians & Health Care

Two sides - Naive or Corrupt.
I just read an article on the National Review Online by Ramesh Ponnuru talking about “facts” touted by politicians on the senate and house floor.
I am only going to steal one of his quotes:
Majority leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) attributed 45,000 deaths each year to lack of insurance.
Looking at the report referred to by Ponnuru, it is clear that his is a HUGE exaggeration on an epic scale. The question I have is about the knowing of these politicians. Are they being duped by the people who are hired to keep them informed or are they intentionally trying to bully America by fear mongering into a health care plan? Are they naive or corrupt? Either way, they are not fit to lead… except, God forbid, a heard of sheep.
Little Ice Age – Little Heat Wave?

People ice skating on the canal of Pompenburg in 1825. Something to while not starving?
Starting in the 1300’s and lasting into the 1800’s our planet experienced what is referred to as the little ice age. This was a period of time when the Earth cooled down. There was a lot of skiing and ice skating, people keeping warm by their fires at night and all that good, pure wintry fun. There were also great famines that led to millions of deaths due to crop shortages because plants tend to not growing very well in frozen ground.
The little ice age is attributed mainly to low solar activity and volcanic activity, but in 2008 William Ruddiman proposed carbon dioxide levels were in effect caused by humans chopping down too many trees. He has little support from the scientific community on this theory but I have to say his thoughts on the matter are interesting to read and a bit different from the common thoughts posed by scientists on either side of the debate and power hungry politicians.
The fact is, our climate changes and we know little about the reasons why. In the 1970’s we were scolded about an oncoming ice age. Read this Times article and see how cold weather affected us then.
So now we are beset with global warming. A potential disaster to mankind and utterly altering the Earth as we know it. There are Scientists all over the world who are screaming at us to do something. Scientists like Nasa’s Jame’s Hansen. These scientists have little to gain in crying doomsday, right? Well read for yourself. The truth is, the doomsayers enjoy fistfulls of cash and a very supportive media who loves to trumpet the next great tragedy.
